- 3qt sauce pot
Ingredients
- 1 cup long grain rice
- 1/4 cup orzo
- 1/2 small shallot minced
- 1 clove garlic peeled and minced
- 2 cups chicken stock
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
Instructions
- Add canola oil to sauce pan and heat to medium high
- Add the rice and orzo and sauté until the orzo is lightly toasted
- Add the minced shallot and garlic then sauté for about 30 seconds
- Slowly pour in the chicken stock being careful as it may boil and steam
- Bring rice to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover with tight fitting lid.
- Set timer for 15 minutes
- After 15 minutes turn off heat and set timer for another 5 minutes leaving the rice rest and continue to cook with carryover heat.
- After 5 minutes, remove lid and fluff rice with fork or spoon and serve
